Subject: CALNET Next Generation Eligibility Certification by Non-State Entities
*ATTENTION – NON-STATE ENTITES
The California Department of Technology (CDT) California Network and Telecommunications Program (CALNET) service offerings are primarily intended to meet State entity requirements. However, CALNET services may be purchased by qualified non-State entities, including federal
and local government.
In order to use the CALNET next generation of contracts, non-state entities will be required to self-certify their organization meets the following criteria:
- Local governmental entity: Local government entities are defined as “any city, county, city and county, district or other governmental body or corporation, including the California State Universities (CSU) and University of California (UC) systems, K-12 schools and community colleges’’, empowered to expend public funds for the acquisition of products, per Public Contract Code Chapter 2, Paragraph 10298 (a) (b), or
- Entirely 100% tax supported, or
- An entity with a Joint Powers Agreement (JPA), or
- Federally recognized Indian Tribe.
CALNET 3 contracts will expire June 2020. Non-state entities currently utilizing the CALNET 3 contracts may continue to do so until the contracts expire.
Any non-state entity that does not meet one of the above criteria will not be able to procure services using the next generation of CALNET services contracts.
